What We Do

Yonic Productions Ltd is a female-led, London based production company dedicated to telling women’s stories while creating opportunities for women in film. Founded in 2021 by actor, writer, producer and filmmaker Cara Mahoney, Yonic Productions is a platform for the stories that are so often ignored or included as subplots, told by those so often cast aside in this industry.

‘Yonic,’ Sanskrit for ‘the source,’ ‘the female genitalia, a divine symbol.’

Lesser known that its male equivalent ‘phallic,’ the Yonic has been removed from our vernacular, and yet we see its likeness everywhere: in art, architecture, nature, advertising. The Yonic is everywhere. Women are everywhere.

As an inclusive organisation that welcomes the trans community, we are using the yoni as a figurative symbol for all those who identify as women.

We’re here to reclaim our narratives, one story at a time, by going right back to the source.
